Cleaning Electronics

Cleaning the surfaces you touch can be a vital way to prevent the spread of viruses and germs, however, cleaning electronics incorrectly can cause damage.

  • Use only the following cleaners, others may cause damage!

    • For keyboards, mouses, and other non-screen surfaces:

      • 70% Isopropyl Alcohol/Alcohol Wipes

      • Clorox Disinfecting Wipes

    • For monitors and screens:
      • Water
      • Products labeled for cleaning electronics screens that do not contain acetone
  • Device must be powered off or disconnected!
    • For keyboards and mouses, if possible, unplug from the computer before cleaning. If not able to unplug from the computer, turn off the computer.
    • For laptops, tablets, or computer monitors, turn off the device and unplug from power.
  • Use only a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive cloths, towels, paper towels, or similar items.

    • Never spray any liquid directly on the device. Spray on the cloth.
    • Cloth should be damp, but not dripping! If there is any liquid dripping from the cloth, wring it out first.
    • Don't use aerosol sprays, bleaches, or abrasives.
    • Don't get moisture into any openings.

  • Allow device to dry before plugging back in and turning on.
